Fifteen silent buttons in your pocket
The AR Pro Remote is a 15-button pocket remote for the Arcane Relics line. Fire a prop, choose exactly which slip InkSight prints, or key in a number or a playing card, all by feel and without touching your phone.
Every button is yours to set up in ArcaneHub, my free app. Each one has five gestures: tap, double tap, triple tap, quad tap and hold. That’s 75 actions under one hand.
Two ways to run it
- App mode. The Remote talks to ArcaneHub on your phone, and the phone does the work. Fire InkSight presets, change banks, and trigger Intonation, Echo and Vertex.
- Direct mode. The Remote runs up to three props on its own, with no phone needed during the show. Buttons 13, 14 and 15 pick the prop, and buttons 1 to 12 control it. Works with Intonation, Echo and Vertex.
Switch modes in the app, or right on the Remote by holding two buttons together for a second.
What it can do
- Up to 72 InkSight preset slips, in six banks of twelve, so you choose the exact slip that prints from your pocket.
- A keypad for numbers and playing cards. Type the value, then tap once, twice, three or four times for the suit. On InkSight a card prints as words, like “Queen of Hearts”.
- Book Tests: type the page or line number straight from your pocket.
- Two-person cueing. Set a second Pro Remote as a receiver and your assistant can send a number or a card that you feel as a silent buzz code, with no phone in the chain. It can also cue your phone and your Galaxy Watch.
- Instant fire. A button with only a tap set fires the moment you let go, with no waiting.
- Adjustable tap speed and hold time to suit your fingers.
You always know it worked
A small motor inside gives a silent buzz to confirm, and a tiny light flashes the same pattern. Each one can be turned off in the app. Different patterns tell you a press was sent, a prop is ready, which bank you are on, or that something needs attention.
Works with ArcaneHub
ArcaneHub is my free app for iPhone, Android and Wear OS watches. Pair the Remote once and it sits on the same screen as every other Arcane Relics prop you own. Firmware updates come over the air from the app. Get the app
Note: Direct mode setup currently needs an Android phone. Once it is set up, the Remote runs your props with no phone at all. App mode works on iPhone and Android.

Most importantly of all, it really LOOKS authentic – but then, of course, it really did come from Holmes ‘s Murder Castle(!?!). It’s the sort of prop which adds the right amount of “atmosphere” to a performance; a mixture of intrigue, puzzlement, authenticity whist being ‘unsettling’. It’s very well constructed and aged. Importantly, it doesn’t betray the devilment that hides inside. As with all such props, it is what you the performer makes of it and with it that matters. Let HHH ring it for you – if you dare.
